Spleodar Halloween Arts Festival
This was the 5th year we have had the pleasure of working with Nenagh Arts Centre on the Spleodar festival.
Each year there is a fun and exciting theme created for the festival and we use this as the inspiration and foundation for all of our designs and illustrations. And with this year been the 25th anniversary we went all out globally, and celebrated the Halloween culture and traditions found worldwide!
The illustrations and symbolisms found throughout the design are a mixture of all the events found at the festival combined with all the Halloween celebrations and traditions from around the world, celebrations such as;
- Ireland and Scotland: Samhain
- Mexico: Día de los Muertos
- Italy: Ognissanti
- Guatemala: Festival de Barriletes Gigantes
- Philippines: Pangangaluwa
- Costa Rica: Día Nacional de la Mascarada Costarricense
Ice Sculpting was also a festival first this year. So we thought it would be a great idea to go with a modern, cubism style for the aesthetics. As this was a good way to mimic and reflect the shapes and movements used throughout ice sculpting.
With the global concept and this years 25th anniversary in mind we went with an explosion of fun ‘carnival’ colours to celebrate!
